Scheduling a Lesson
Amy gives private piano lessons on Tuesdays and Wednesdays in students' homes and on Thursdays in her home studio.  Lessons are 30 or 45 minutes in duration and are offered once a week.

Lesson Fees

During the months of September through May, lessons are $136 per month for 30-minute lessons.  45-minute lessons are $204 per month.  A recital fee of $10 per student is charged in the months of December and May.  Summer lessons are available from June through August and are charged on a weekly basis with a minimum of 9 lessons during that three-month period.

Lesson Payment
Each month of lessons is invoiced at the beginning of the month, and payments are due by the first lesson given in that month or no later than the 7th of each month.  Payments can be made directly through the invoice via Quickbooks.  Cash, check, PayPal, and Zelle are also accepted if the parent prefers one of these methods. A $10 late fee is charged for payments made after the 7th of the month.

Attendance/Makeup Policy

Students must arrive or be available promptly at the start of their lesson time.  Time is not taken from following lessons to accommodate late arrivals.  Students receiving lessons at Amy's home studio may be dropped off, but they must be picked up promptly after their lesson.

There are no refunds for missed or canceled lessons.  Each student may receive two makeup lessons per semester either via zoom or in person at Amy's home studio provided that a 48-hour notice has been given of the cancelation or if the cancelation was due to sudden illness.  Makeups must be scheduled within two weeks of the missed lesson or the makeup will be forfeited.

In the event that Amy is not able to give lessons on a regularly scheduled day, an in-person makeup day will be offered or a credit ($35 /30-minute lesson; $52.50/45-minute lesson) will be given on the student's account the following month.

Lesson Materials
Amy will purchase any books or materials needed for each student and simply include the cost for these on the invoice for the month in which they were purchased.

Practice Requirements
Practice is vital to the success of any musician no matter how young or old.  It is what takes place in between the lessons in order to solidify and perfect techniques learned during the lesson.  While daily practice is most beneficial, many people's schedules simply do not allow for this.  Therefore, it is recommended that students maintain at least five days of practice per week.  The amount of time spent practicing varies according to age and level.  The younger the student, the more involved the parent must be in making sure practice is taking place.  If the student cannot maintain the required amount of practice for two consecutive weeks, termination of the lessons will be considered. Please don't hesitate to contact Amy for support and ideas for helping your child meet this requirement.

Recitals
Performing is an essential part of learning to play an instrument.  It provides incentive for development, a goal to work toward, and a means by which to showcase progress and accomplishments.  Each student is required to participate in the annual spring recital.  An optional Christmas Recital is also held in December.  This is a great opportunity for first-time performers to ease into the performing experience in a relaxed, fun, and supportive environment!
