About Amy

Amy holds a bachelor's degree in Church Music and a master's degree in Music Education from Bob Jones University.

During her five years of piano teaching experience, she has taught students of all ages and levels from beginner through early-advanced. In addition to teaching piano, Amy also teaches general music and directs the Junior High and Elementary Choirs at Marquette Manor Baptist Academy.

It has been her privilege to serve as church pianist in her church for the past three years, providing congregational accompaniment, offertories, and vocal accompaniment.

Amy greatly enjoys these opportunities to minister through music and is especially thankful for the chance to influence the lives of her students and assist them in recognizing and developing their God-given talents.

TREATMENTS Scheduling a LessonAmy gives lessons on weekdays at Marquette Manor Baptist Academy (MMBA) from 8am to 5pm. Your child does not need to be enrolled in MMBA in order to register for piano lessons. Please contact Amy to check on available times. In some cases, home lessons may be scheduled for evenings and weekends. These slots are very limited and are filled on a first come, first served basis. Lessons are 30 minutes in duration and are offered once a week.Lesson PaymentStudents receiving lessons at MMBA will receive a monthly bill from the school. Home lesson fees are paid monthly directly to Amy at the first lesson of each month. Lessons canceled by the teacher will be made up at a mutually agreeable time. Lessons canceled due to student/family emergencies will be made up in similar fashion. Failure to contact Amy to cancel a lesson at least 24 hours in advance will result in no refund and no make-up lesson.Lesson MaterialsThe student/parent is responsible to purchase all necessary music, books, and flashcards recommended by the teacher. A guide to purchasing these materials online and in store is available under the Purchasing Music tab.Practice RequirementsPractice is vital to the success of any musician no matter how young or old. It is what takes place in between the lessons in order to gain the most benefit from the weekly instruction. While daily practice is most beneficial, many people's schedules simply do not allow for this. Therefore, it is recommended that students maintain at least five days of practice per week. The amount of time spent practicing varies according to age and level. RecitalsPerforming is an essential part of learning to play an instrument. It provides incentive for development, a goal to work toward, and a means by which to showcase progress and accomplishments. Each student is required to participate in the spring recital held at MMBA. An optional, informal winter recital is also available for those who would like an opportunity to ease into the performing experience.
